Ways to Celebrate World Health Day in 2022

On April 7 of every year, we explore global health issues on World Health Day. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), health is central to happiness and wellbeing as well as contributing to economic progress as healthy populations are more productive and live longer. Below, I will go over a few ways that we can celebrate World Health Day in 2022.

  1. Share your favorite healthy recipes

Take care of yourself this World Health Day by eating a healthy meal. A balanced, nutrient-filled diet doesn’t have to be boring! Share your go-to healthy meals and inspire others to do the same.

If you are too busy to cook, grab a healthy meal outside! Take a photo of your lunch and share it on your social media, inspiring others to do just the same and even try out your recommendations!

  1. Proper desk set-up

We often spend countless hours sat in front of a desk for work, leisure, etc. Sitting with a computer at proper eye level is important to maintaining good posture. Readjust your chair or buy a computer stand, and remind your colleagues and friends to do the same.

  1. Bring healthy snacks

Replace the usual bag of chips with healthier alternatives, like dried fruit chips or berries to celebrate World Health Day in 2022. Are you back in the office now? If so, bring your colleagues some healthy treats as well to encourage healthy eating around the office!

  1. Meditation

Mental health is just as important as your physical health. Meditation takes a strong role in this regard. It’s free, keeps your stress levels low, and you can practice it anywhere for however long you please. Try it out for a few minutes at a time. Relax every part of your body and focus on taking deep, controlled breaths. It’s normal for your thoughts to scatter or wander. Try to make a point of keeping your thoughts focused on the current moment.

  1. Workout

Go outside for a hike or take a BJJ class with your friends and family. You can even play a fitness game that gets you moving as these became popular during the Covid-19 lockdowns. The possibilities for moving are endless and fun!

  1. Research health inequalities around the world

The pandemic brought forth the idea that our health is of upmost importance and our biggest resource. It highlighted that our world is unequal in this regard. Differences in socioeconomic status means differences in access to health services and healthier lives. Groups that are more vulnerable are hit the hardest during the pandemic in this world. They struggle to make ends meet under poor living conditions and without access to necessities such as clean water and food. Share your experiences this World Health Day and inspire others to follow in your healthy footsteps!
